Besides their natural reluctance to change, why do you think people still hold onto a tradition no matter how outrageous it is?

Because they believe that if they do their tradition, so it (do the tradition) will make their prosperous life, if they don't do it (tradition), they will suffer a calamity or a misfortune. So, according to them, better sacrifice one person than many people become victims.

Thanks, Sir
GOD BLESS YOU.

In my opinion, some people (especially old people) are still holding the tradition that might outrageous because some people believe that the old tradition is right one.
It still happens now in some places; even in religious matter.
Those people don't want to change or even adapt with the development of culture and era because their thoughts are based on " todays era is a crazy era" which means anything happens now are not right.
So the tradition still have to be held.
Second thing, those people might still believe that a tradition MUST be continued anyway. It has been taught in their families so they are afraid to break it.

in my opinion, people still holding those kind of tradition because of these reason:

1. the tradition has been held for long time and it has been trusted as the right tradition,, can be said as habit,, and there's no more people who cares whether the tradition is right or wrong in actual.

2. because it has became a habit,, and there is no one who can prove whether the tradition is right or wrong, they just follow it and even though it's wrong, no one has initiative to end the tradition.

3. maybe there are some accidentally events which prove that the tradition can work and give them any advantages, just like what they always wanted,, so they think that tradition must be kept.

In my opinion people still hold onto a tradition no matter how outrageous it is because they followed it for so long it has become their religion. So they believe it and won't question it even though they know that its outrageous. Their ancestor had it passed down for generations and engraved it in their mind that it is the right way to do things and that is how they're going to pass it down to their children.

Because it's something sacred to be abandoned and forgotten..
The ancestors passed their traditions and also added mystical events that would automatically happen if we abandoned them..
So, I personally think that people are afraid of that..
People are just afraid of being haunted by that mystical events, so that's why people still inherit the traditions

I think the people keep doing the tradition because they (especially the elders) live with many myths. Besides, they are willing to keep the tradition no matter how dangerous the tradition might cause.

In my opinion, people still hold this tradition because :
1. they believe the tradition is one of the heritage from their ancestor, so they must keep and hold it as a honor to their ancestor.
2. they believe the tradition will give some advantages to them, although they must sacrifice one person of them.

Marcelin_11409007 said...

It's simple for me,
some people are still holding it because they are afraid of the effect that could be ominous for their life if they leave the tradition.

Basically, tradition is a culture that blends inside people who hold the tradition. It is not something that is easy to change, considering how long they have lived up to the tradition. Sometimes they also believe that doing the tradition over and over again will somehow grant them prosperity.

And again, people are afraid of change~. However, they try to deny it by simply stating that it is the right thing to do.

People (mostly old people) still hold onto a tradition because they think that it is the best, and sometimes they afraid of the karma or punishment if they're not follow the tradition.
Not infrequently, they actually do not follow the tradition, but unconsciously they used to it.

I think because they enjoy it. Maybe they got something from what they do through their tradition. And it makes them addicted to do that again and again even they already know the risk. They kept it and passed it through their generation, so it won't stop and will be continue all the time.

According to me tradition is handed down through generation so if people wanna change it's very difficult. Violence is okay if it doesn't become personal.Since they do the tradition, the harvest always good. Tradition sometimes contain with mystic so if you don't do it you will get punishment

BECAUSE:
-they're too afraid to move on from their traditions.
-they're a conservative people that can't adapt easily to a new tradition.
-most people don't want to change because the traditions have became habits for them, so that they can't leave it or if they leave the tradition, they feel uneasy and not protected.
-the traditions are the heritages that have to be inherited for the next generations

In my opinion, people still hold onto a tradition because they believe that the old tradition is right. The other reason is because old tradition has became a habit in their life. And the last, they afraid of the bad effect if they leave the tradition.

In my opinion, people still hold the tradition because :
1. People think the tradition is an inheritance from their ancestors, so they keep the tradition as a symbol of their respect to their ancestors.
2. People think that the tradition will give advantages in their life. Although they must sacrifice themselves.

From my point of you I think some traditional people believe that if they don't follow the tradition they will feel guilty to their ancestor because they dismiss their own tradition. So I think some of them usually don't know what that tradition used for.

People who want to change the tradition are out of number from the other that still want to hold it. And they're afraid of the superior people that still hold the tradition.
Perhaps they just respect their ancestor. By holding the tradition, people assume that they respect their ancestor by doing it.
They don't want to be assumed as the one who throw away the tradition because of the modernization.

Guys,

Thanks for the comments. Most of you have given 'deep' comments while some haven't. But no worry. To go to the root of the problem, you must keep on asking why. Many whys. If you can't go further, it is pretty safe to say that you might have reached the bottom of the problem.

Keep up the good work!

Because they believe, their tradition is good for them....
If they don't do their tradition, they believe they will get something bad like they can't stay in their region who believe the tradition...

And maybe they follow the tradition because people in their around hold the tradition....
They don't be freak.....
So they follow to believe the tradition too....

in my opinion, some people still hold their tradition firmly because of several reasons.

First of all, they afraid of the things that will happen if they don't hold it anymore. Usually, if people leave a tradition that have been going for many decades, they assume that bad things or bad luck will come to them and make them suffer. The old people, especially, want to be safe and in order to be safe, they must hold their tradition although the tradition maybe don't fit their era now.

In addition, the people also afraid to be the minority. If they leave the tradition, they will be different from the others and the others even keep at a distance from them who leave the tradition.

Finally, the most important reason is they want to keep the tradition so that the existence of their family still protracted. They don't want if their next generation leave and forget the family tradition. If that happened, it means that te next generation don't respect the presence of their ancestors.

Because it became habit from one generation to the next generation, they're afaid to change it whether it's good or not.

Because the tradition is a habitual activity, sacred activity. They think they need and must do it. They believe if they do or don't do it, there will be effects for them or their environment. Or perhaps, they don't want to make a change, they afraid to change.

people still hold their tradition because it is something that has been taught since they were still children,so it is already in their mind that the tradition is something they must do.moreover, when we were taught about the tradition,by the older generation, they told us about the consequences too.so,some people are too afraid to change the tradition because they are too afraid of the consequences though nowadays people have their own religion.

And they give their old tradision to his or her childrens. Some people believe the tradition and holding it becuase of accidentally event that prove the effect of the old tradision.

people hold their traditional things because people are afraid the result of after they changed their traditional thing they cannot be sure which one is right way ( I mean, change or not ). as we know everything gonna be die if we have dry season all the time, people think that If they scapegoat someone to their believe, Everything created good for them. For example, really good season and They can get food in the field all the time.
My conclusion is because of all people just hold their traditional thing even it is very outrageous.

thank Sir!

Because it has became a tradition and habit,so there is no one who can prove whether the tradition is wrong or right, they just believe it and do that. They kept it and no one has initiative to end the tradition.
So that's why people still maintain that tradition.

For a belief, because they believe, they still do that. It seemed to be like a "habit". I mean that, there will be something "wrong" if they don't. It can be a calamity, infertile land or anything else. While it is an outrageous one. But, they have to do for their own sake. Besides, they think that what they've to do so far is right. There are no something wrong with these tradition.
and the last but not least, I think it because of their ancestors or parents did that, so that they have to. So they don't "betray" them by keep the tradition "alive".

I think,
people still hold onto a tradition no matter how outrageous it is because they are believe. They think if they don't do that they will get a disaster and they can't stay long in that place because their land isn't fertile. They don't know that everything from God. while, if they believe to God, the curse wouldn't be happen.

In my opinion the tradition was so internalized inside of people in that place, they thought it's sth that they must do..cz time by time their ancestor did it and in their mind it's sumthg right 2 save more people by the saCrafice of 1person.. But 4me itz a terrible tradition, bcz eaCh perSoN have their own right 2 life n not be killed by that brutal desire of itz own tradition.so in the deEp OF my heart i realy reject that tradition.

I think it's because some of them just can't let it go..it's like, already 'mendarah daging' to theirself. While some are just too afraid to leave it because they don't want to be excommunicate by the others. Besides, the power of mass is really powerful, you know..majority rules; if they are too scared to be different, they'll just go with the flow

maybe in their mind that tradition is something good or a must,so they just do it and never think about the effect to the one who get the lottery, they do that tradition because they believe when they do it(the tradition) they will get prosperity and save many people by the sacrifice of one person that get the lottery.well honestly i dont agree with their tradition because it's a silly thing to do right?!

in my opinion they trust and do that tradition because their ancestor did it and the people in that place just follow their ancestor's tradition without think the moral value and they don't think about the others right to life.they are still strong to do the tradition. they afraid to change the tradition because in their mind something bad or terrible will happen if they don't do it.so they just do it although it's so opposite with moral value.

In my opinion,i think why people still hold the tradition because if they don't do it they believe they can't get what their want..
usually rural people often think with traditional mind than modern people in city..
they feel they must keep tradition until forever, they also afraid with alteration because they think it's from their anchestor and it's must to do it from generation to generation

because the think they will get bad luck or cursed by their ancestors if they didn't do their tradition and also some people believe that their ancestors will bless them if they do the tradition

James-11409039 said...

I think most of them are not comfortable in this circumstance but they can not escape this because each person is too afraid to make any objection. Individually, every person does not like the tradition in but individually, one person does not have enough power to convince the mass to leave the outrageous tradition. In other words in order to live together with other, every person should obey tradition.

The tradition is taught from old generation to the old one. So, the tradition itself grows in the people. It's hard to change something that rooted in someone.
